La La La
This is me with my fingers in my ears singing LA LA LA at the top of my lungs to drown out the incessant media coverage/speculation about the election. At this point, I don't want to know anything about it until it's settled. I just can't handle the stress.

So, in the meantime have something pretty to look at - this handsome bird is a Stellar's Jay (Rocky Mountain form).

Just this weekend a pair of Stellars made themselves at home in my yard- it's the first time I have seen any in my yard. They usually prefer to live higher up on the slopes. I guess this year's drought and fires have taken their toll on the food supplies in their normal range- which probably also accounts for my recent sighting of a Red-naped Sapsucker, also not a usual denizen of my area.  I'm happy to have them, though!  As opposed to the bear. ;'D
A few more Stellars pix are available on my Flickr stream.

Btw, happy belated birthday!

By the way, I posted a birthday card to my LJ but three days in advance!

Nods, I'm watching Gargoyles eps on Youtube to avoid coverage, and sneaking glimspes at my flist. I voted this morning, now I just want to know who actually won, not the endless speculation.

That is a beautiful bird!

Though now I know, and am content. :)

This is one of the most beautiful things I ever saw in the natural world; it's really "stellar" (I'm always annoyed to say 'it' while speaking of intelligent animals).

It really is, isn't it? I was thrilled to see them. And I can't tell if that particular bird is a male or a female, so sadly, 'it' will have to do!
